TRIAL UPDATES: Jodi Arias Reads Torn-Out Diary Pages About Suicide, Rocky Relationship

Accused murdererJodi Arias tore out pages of her diary in which she complained about her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander, and said she wanted to commit suicide, she testified today. She said she was afraid he would snoop and read them.
Arias showed the court the torn pages of her journal and read the full excerpts to the jury, just a week after prosecutor Juan Martinez used her partial diary entries to show that she never wrote about the alleged abuse he inflicted on her.
Martinez has accused Arias of making up the allegations that Alexander was abusive. She is charged with murdering her ex-boyfriend at his home in Mesa, Ariz., on June 4, 2008.
Arias, 32, claims she was forced to kill Alexander in self-defense during a violent confrontation. She could face the death penalty if convicted.
“Who besides yourself had access to your journals?” lead defense attorney Kirk Nurmi asked Arias today, on the first day of redirect.
“Well, Travis would read them,” she testified. “There was the potential that Travis could read something in there, and also the biggest reason was the law of attraction, which was a huge philosophy at that time in my life.”
Arias said that she believed thinking positive thoughts would bring positive change to her life, and thinking negative thoughts would bring about negativity.

Me, too. We had a Public High School in my neighborhood, where the wealthy children would go. Academically a very highly rated school in S. F. I and my friends stood on one corner waiting for the bus and these cashmere clad girls would arrive and transfer to the other bus. I am not an envious person, but I would have liked to be able to wear something like they wore, too.

Me too, Sal!! I was just embarassed to have to wear it. Especially because we shared the bus with the public school kids!! Wow, I was probably the envy of all those other girls whom I thought may have been making fun of me!

Watching Dr. Drew (ad nauseum), how can anyone defend or have sympathy for the tramp? The thing that cinches it for me is the 27 stab wounds. That sounds like jealousy to me. Abused women want to get away from their abusers.
Also on one of the shows today, they said that any professional that gets up on the stand to ‘explain’ tramp’s actions can say A N Y T H I N G the defense wants them too.
And I think Everyone is sick of the sex now. This is a Murder trial. I so feel for TA’s family to have to sit there and listen to her crap. It would take a team of horses for me not to jump up and scream out. While tramps family and atty’s get to make smirks and laugh.
Who tears pages from a diary or Journal b/c they want to get rid of them, not have them seen by anyone else etc…then they all of a sudden appear all these years later???? And, it looks like in good shape too. Martinez mentioned writing in them added by someone else, did she ever say whose writing it was, and who highlighted the sentences?
This has phony written all over it. I did learn from it however that her ex bf Dixon committed suicide. So, by age 27 she had at least one bf commit suicide ( someone else posted there were actually two), she murders Travis and less than a week later her first bf was murdered and is still an unsolved case. I don’t know the circumstances of any except for Travis but that’s a whole lot of coincidences. Who knows what Arias is truly capable of? I know she is someone who should never be free in society again..ever. jmo.
lovekats7 – good observation! What are the chances of ‘losing’ 2 previous boyfriends, and then killing the third. She may be another Drew Peterson. They should investigate that. Sounds a bit fishy to me. And when you think of it….what are the chances of losing 3 lovers via death. Strange!
Binky….if we go by her statements, she only had 4 or 5 boyfriends. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had many one time only “dates”, but she is very odd when it comes to a “real” BF. She has a start and end date for her relationships, literally. I hope this jury understands what Martinez was telling them about how she has a pattern of going to extremes when she thinks a BF has cheated on her.
So today we heard yet another excuse for her hands being cut, and it was so obvious she tried to make Ryan Burns sound like he misunderstood what she told him at the same time. Her saying she cut her hand on a “margaurita glass” was such a weak attempt to explain him saying she told him she worked at Margauritaville. Then to break another glass at Travis’s house? I have to think that anyone on the jury who would believe all that BS must be in a fog too. I have faith that they already see the truth about Arias and her obsessions.

I’ll bet this jodi trial will be somewhat covered on HLN and this Doctor’s office had the news on when the trampthony verdict was read. We all sitting in the waiting room Gasped in unison when Swampie got off. I don’t think this trial, though, will be played in public. Too nasty is the testimony.

Good morning, Trial:
Did jodi tear out the pages so Travis and no one else would be able to read them, is that what she said? And then she kept them somewhere????? jodi is somewhat known for trying to pass bogus writings. I hope she gets nailed. I wonder how the new evidence can be brought in so late in the game.
I missed the very moments that the pages were produced in court. Jodi had been blathering on and on testi-lying on the re-direct. They probably went to side bar again and I went to the kitchen to put the frozen pizza in the oven and set the table. When I came back, Mr. Matrinez was questioning her about some loose pages. So I missed a Perry Mason moment I think.

How do you think Jodi got TA’s body back in the shower stall? There’s a raised area at the bottom that you have to step over to get into the shower. Can’t imagine how she got his body over the hump.
