Report: Suspect in Natalee Holloway case confesses

135AMSTERDAM (BNO NEWS) — Dutch suspect Joran van der Sloot has confessed to disposing the body of missing American student Natalee Holloway while on the Caribbean island of Aruba, a Dutch newspaper reported on Tuesday. He made the statements in front of an RTL television camera.

The statements by van der Sloot follow a similar confession more than two years ago during an undercover operation by Dutch crime reporter Peter R. de Vries, which prosecutors said did not constitute new legal evidence.

‘De Telegraaf’ newspaper reported that - in the new confession - Van der Sloot said he is still scared of being prosecuted and admitted to disposing Holloway’s body in a marsh on Aruba. The report said the chief prosecutor on Aruba confirmed the story, but said Van der Sloot could be attempting to give multiple false versions to hide the truth.

Chief prosecutor Peter Blanken told ‘De Telegraaf’ that the confession resulted in a new investigation into the disappearance of Holloway, but eventually concluded without results. “It became clear that this statement is hold together by lies and fantasy,” Blanken said. “Times are wrong and named witnesses have denied.”

Blanken also said that, if Holloway’s body was disposed in the marsh, it would probably never be recovered. “If she was left there, the chances of finding her are extremely small,” Blanken said. “After several days, nothing would have been found except bones and maybe a plastic shoe.”

Natalee Holloway went missing on May 30, 2005 during a high school graduation trip to Aruba. The case received international media attention, but her body was never found.

The prosecutor’s office on Aruba, which reportedly confirmed Tuesday’s report, did not immediately respond to inquiries left by BNO News as its offices were closed.  Source:  Wireupdate.com  Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 at 5:32 am | BNO News

  3. Hi Speedykita! Yes I’m actually a ’sleeper” where I need the full 8 hours of sleep or I cannot function haha .. every once in awhile I do get off schedule of which I dislike but go with it- saw this news and had to get it out for sure.. It is strange for this news to come about so quickly after Joran’s father’s death - this guy is no dummy so he may be doing it on purpose. I’m sure Nancy Grace will get ahold of the confession tape

This young man is a very arrogant young man, and I hope for the sake of Natalee’s family,  he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.   He’s been walking around scot-free since…May of 2005, and he thought he was above the law and sooo special because of his father’s job.

  7. Oh, wouldn’t this be wonderful?     I would be soooo happy for Natalee’s family.     It is time that they should be able to put this mystery to bed.     They need that to happen, like yesterday.     I feel so sorry for them  as I have two wonderful daughters and couldn’t imagine for even a second the unrest I would be feeling of the unknown.      Hope something positive comes out of this.     And the perp/perps are finally going to have to pay for their crimes.    The laws in Aruba are sooo weird and I fully understand the comment Jan made about sending your kids abroad whether it is for school or breaks or whatever.     I have seen too much monkey business going on with people living on 60 miles from the Mexican border.     You sure do not want to cross any one even if you just go shopping down in Nogales.     Your family may not ever get you out of their jails and I have heard the worst about their jails.      They seem from what I have heard they are more like cages with almost, to, for real, dirt floors and small  and not treated with all of the nice stuff like accounts where you can purchase cheese puffs, shampoo and hot spicy dips.     You sure don’t want to drink any thing BUT the bottled water there, if you know what I mean.     It is time for the Hollaways to get some peace IMO.     God Bless them.

GOD BLESS THE HOLLOWAYS AND MAY JUSTICE PREVAIL.

  9. I am so stupid when it comes to law so someone help me out here.  Why in the world is he trying to do the right thing now because his “Father” died? Is his “Father” the one that told him to keep his trap shut. Why after all this time would he admit to it now?

  10. I don’t believe him. He is always telling stories. I wonder if he is saying this so police start looking at marshes, really throw them off. In the meantime he is afraid that the house in Aruba is getting sold and there is evidence hiding there.

  11. Disgusted Again...

Okay, I’m confused.  In the 4th paragraph regarding the new investigation, is the new investigation they are referring to the one where they looked into the comment Joran made on the undercover tape with Perter DeVries (sp?), or is this an investigation that has already been undertaken and concluded after this latest confession? Anyone know?  I hate how the authorities keep looking into things, concluding that there is no evidence and just dismissing Joran to go on and live his life while poor Beth Holloway is left to wonder whatever became of her beautiful child. Uggghhhhh!  He is such a creep!  I don’t know how Natalee’s father was able to restrain himself when in the company of this psychopath!

Daddy Dearest is no longer protecting him, he is feeling the heat.  No one to protect him.  I can’t stand looking at his face.  Just like the Scamathonys’ all of them are a bunch of psychopaths!

  13. Do any  of you remember the little toy stuffed monkey looking things with vinyl faces and ears that stuck straight out?     You used to be able to buy outfits for your girls to be able to dress them.     I believe they were called, Munchichi’s.     Everytime I look  at Joran I see this big obnoxious Munchichi.      With his hair and all.                           No offense meant to gorilla.

Yep, it is either he doesn’t have his daddy to protect him OR  there is evidence is their family home.     And I think actually BOTH have something to do with this.      Poor Joran, maybe he wants to confess and will ask to come over and be in jail with Casey so he can hook up with her there?      A match made in heaven.       Do you hear the magical music now?

  14. Maybe since his father has died Joran has decided to tell the truth.  It’s probably haunting him to death.  I am hoping for peace for Natalee’s parents (who are both originally from Arkansas).

Isn’t it odd that when there is a death of a close relative, people start thinking of their own mortality? You start wondering about the afterlife and what is going to happen when we meet the Big Man upstairs.  There could very well be a secret hidden in his parent’s home. Was Joran able to go back to Aruba for his father’s funeral?  I have often said to some of my eleven grandchildren, “Aren’t there lovely resorts, beaches, etc. in our country?”  Guess I am just a worry wart.

  16. I agree - after the Natalee case, I would never want to go to Aruba.  Ever.  It sounds like an awful place to me.

  20. There is something really crazy about the reaction the Aruban authorities have to these ‘confessions’ of Joran. They say” They’re made up, he’s lying, etc”.  My response to that is why would you lie about that?  It seems like you’d lie covering up, not lie about doing it.  Why would he confess to something he didn’t do?  He wouldn’t–he’s responsible for Natalee’s death.

  21. Linda Dawalt

I wouldn’t go to Aruba even if it was an all-inclusive, absolutely free and tax free vacation handed to me on a platter.  I am convinced the police knew exactly what happened within hours of questioning Joran.  That’s why they kept asking Natalee’s parents if she was epileptic and prone to seizures.  Joran told them the same story he told the undercover in the Netherlands.  Which I believe to be the truth.  Remember the witness who came forward and told of seeing Joran walking on his road in the early morning hours and his clothes were wet up to his chest?  How do you think they got that way?  He waded out to the boat to help load the body.   The police knew all along what happened and the government knew.  They kept it quiet because they wanted to keep their tourism.  Well, I for one won’t never, ever spend a cent on a trip to Aruba.

I have always felt the same, Linda - and still do.  Aruba won’t get a single dime of my hard-earned money.  I too completely believe there was a cover-up for the sake of Tourism.  Aruba has blood on their hands - and I do feel for the People of Aruba . . . but their law enforcement covered up murder for the sake of the almighty dollar.
