Exclusive: Baby Gabriel search focused on missing green bag
Sources have revealed to KENS 5 that when Elizabeth Johnson vacated her hotel room at the Homegate Inn & Suites in late December, she left behind all of her son’s personal belongings.
But there reportedly was one item investigators could not find: a green diaper bag that belonged to Gabriel Johnson. Of course, the 8-month-old was missing too.
A joint investigation involving authorities in San Antonio and Arizona led to a portion of the Tessman Road Landfill being roped off.
Johnson reportedly sent the baby’s father, Logan McQueary, a text message saying she had killed their child, placed him in a bag and put his body in a dumpster. Trash from her hotel would come to the area where San Antonio police are currently searching.
That’s where sources said police are looking for a green diaper bag or suitcase that could contain the child’s body.
San Antonio police have called the case both a missing person case and a capital murder investigation.
Sources said the young mother’s text to Gabriel’s father declared she would direct him to their child’s blue body if the garbage does not take him prior to that alert.
Johnson allegedly came to San Antonio trying to elude child custody issues with McQueary. Sources said she wanted to adopt little Gabriel to Tempe, Arizona couple Jack and Tammi Smith.
KENS 5 has learned that police have evidence of communication between the Smiths and Johnson while she was in San Antonio.
According to sources, they allegedly were discussing ways to conduct an illegal adoption. But police reportedly have not been able to conclude that such an adoption ever happened.
Sources said police did find witnesses who saw Johnson shopping without Gabriel the day she abandoned her grandfather’s vehicle at a south-side Motel 6.
Investigators say that’s when she used a fake last name to buy a bus ticket to Miami, Florida. Sources said the child did not make the trip. Johnson was arrested on child custody charges in Florida.
Police have said the mother was uncooperative. She reportedly said Gabriel was given to a couple in a San Antonio park.
But sources said subsequent questioning of the toddler’s mother revealed inconsistencies in her story. Plus, investigators allegedly believe the missing child’s story garnered so much national media attention that it’s peculiar that they have not received any reports of sightings of Gabriel.

I am heart broken to read this. Yesterday I had alot of hope that there had been an illegal adoption and was so hopefull that he was alive. I had not found any updates today
Hi Jaquey - well the only thing that doesn’t fit is that there is a surveillance picture of Baby Gabriel & his mom at Six Flags while she was in San Antonio. With this it is ”highly” unlikey that Elizabeth was going there for a fun time as she was so upset with her boyfriend (still is) and was looking to adopting out Gabriel. Therefore, this Six Flags picture absolutely leads to an under-ground adoption especially since it is common for these to occur at Six Flags IMO so I am still very hopeful indeed :smile:

Thank you Express for the new thread, and all that you do for us!!! What ever Elizabeth has done, whomever she gave the baby to, Tammi Smith was the connection. That is one evil, mean woman!! Remember, Tammi saying, that baby Gabriel, now, could be disguised as a girl. I think she may have past, underground, baby selling ,deals in her background. So my question has been anwsered,the Invedtigators dont have the diaper bag.An how would Gabrieals mom,know that the baby would turn gray/blue after death. Seem like a murder to me.What was motel 6 area like,any woods where she parked the car.An could that be the dumpster sight where she dropped Grabriel in.Does motel 6 trash go to the same landfill,as the 2 motels she stayed in does?
What a beautiful little boy! To think she had no motherly feelings for him is sickening. Looking at his picture, I just want to hold him forever. How can these young women do these awful things? Why could she not let his Dad have him and walk away, and start her new life she so desperately wanted? Another spiteful b i t c h.

My thought is, what if she threw the bag in another dumpster in a different part of town or something? Would it still be where the motel trash is? Police need to get tough with her, stop the coddling!!! There are ways to make her talk! They, at least, owe that much to baby Gabriel and his father!!! Elizabeth Johnson is a waste of life. We pray every night for Gabriels safe return to his father, but unfortunately, that will probably never happen.
pro-death…you are so right….she could have discarded this bag in any dumpster…plus according to a GPS device of hers…she took a trip somewhere…this baby is dead and no one will ever find his little body…such a tragedy. She will eventually go on trial for murder…let’s hope she gets the death penalty she deserves…justice for baby Gabriel.
Jana, if baby Gabriel is dead and his body can’t be found,I’m afraid there would always be a reasonable doubt in her trial.[ Since the evil one told two stories] So, all I can do is pray that she gets at least 40 or 50 years for all her other charges. I can just see her, with her smug attitude,sitting in that cell , thinking” well I showed Logan”,and how she outsmarted L.E. and the F.B.I. You are right, Gabriel’s body could be anywhere! …… I even had the nightmare thought, that she may have put his body in her backpack , discarding him at the first bus stop in a dumpster. So very sad. I am still praying for Logan and his family that Gabriel is still alive somewhere but with few clues it is getting very hard to stay positive. I hope they DO find the diaper bag in the landfill and no baby, that would renew hope….Maybe.
God bless everyone involved except the evil trio…Elizabeth and the Smith’s. I hope they see Gabriel beautiful smile and hear his laughter every waking moment of their lives and feel shame.
Both women need to be forced to talk . When I say force, I mean a little strong arming. Like pin the arm behind their back really hard. Folks don’t like pain and will sing like a canary to make the pain stop. Our laws suck. We may never find out what happened to that baby boy. Our laws are way to gentle on the evil ones.
I am for Caylee’s Law. It needs to be passed in order to give those darling little children justice. I am a 21 year old mother to a beautiful 2 year old littler girl, and it kills me to see that i have/had way more motherly emotions than these women have had. Some people should not be able to have children.
I agree with Linda, our laws are way to gentle on the evil ones, Punish them for what happened to their children because even if they didnt do it( which we all know they did) they should still be punished for not taking care of their children like a mother is supposed to.
This article is so heartbreaking. I truly hope this child was given away, as stated earlier. I’ve followed this story since December, and feel as I know Baby Gabriel.
Baby Gabriel has won our hearts and hope we get to meet him someday soon.

Caylee’s Law would be some sort of justice for the viciously murdered small child just as a law was passed as a result of the Scott Peterson double murders: Mandatory death penalty for murderers of pregnant women.
Maybe somebody knows where we can start after the Monster has been sentenced.
people in florida can start with their local legislators, congressmen(women), senators…start writing! someone can then draft legislation for mandatory death penalty for murderers of children.

Heck, no - they have started the “Caylee Foundation” which they claim is non-profit.
Those skunks are only interested in money, and they exploit their murdered grandchild to that end.

yes, i believe you are right that lacey’s family began that petition; however, they weren’t involved in their daughters/grandson’s murder…i hope someone starts ‘caylees law’ before the anthony family does, this way they won’t get any credit.
I would so love to have 5 minutes with the B—–. EJ needs to spill it. That little boy has love waiting for him, and she is eat up with enough jealousy to keep him from it. She will get whats coming to her on day.
