Landfill Searach Begins For Baby Gabriel
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The search has begun at a San Antonio, Texas, landfill for the possible body of an Arizona baby who has been missing for about a month, San Antonio police said Tuesday.
A portion of the Tessman Road Landfill was cordoned off in the last few weeks as part of the investigation into the disappearance of 8-month-old Gabriel Johnson of Tempe, according to Peg Mulloy, spokeswoman for landfill owner Phoenix-based Republic Services.
She said landfill managers identified the area based on where Gabriel was last seen on Dec. 26. She added that the cordoned-off area was larger than a convenience-store parking lot.
“We’re able to say trash from this particular neighborhood on this particular date is probably in this area (of the landfill),” she said. “We stopped placing waste in an area they may want to search, and we’re waiting for them to tell us what they would like to do.”
Gabriel’s mother, Elizabeth Johnson, 23, was arrested Dec. 30 in Florida and is charged in Arizona with kidnapping, child abuse and custodial interference. Police said she drove Gabriel to San Antonio from Tempe, stayed about a week, then took a bus to Florida without him.
She has refused to say where the baby is, but told Gabriel’s father she killed him. She also has said she gave the baby away to a couple in San Antonio.
Early in their investigation, Tempe police said they were optimistic that Gabriel was alive and were looking into a potential underground adoption.
Gabriel’s father, Logan McQueary, told police that Johnson said she put the boy’s body in a diaper bag and threw it in the trash.
CBS 5 News reported that McQueary showed them a text message he said he received from Johnson on Dec. 27.
“And you can spend the rest of your pathetic life wondering about him,” according to the message. “I’m already boarding a plane out of the country. When I’m safe, I’ll e-mail you the exact location of dead Gabriel’s little blue body, if the garbage don’t come first.”
Carbajal declined to confirm whether Johnson sent the message, citing the ongoing investigation.

EXPERT: BABY GABRIEL MAY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — New evidence that surfaced Sunday in the search for baby Gabriel shows there is a better chance that he may still be alive. It suggests it was Elizabeth Johnson’s plan all along to adopt her baby away.
Johnson sits in a Maricopa County Jail on charges of kidnapping and custodial interference in connection with an attempted adoption and her son’s disappearance.
The day started with Gabriel’s father, Logan McQueary, hitting the pavement, stopping at spots Johnson was seen or captured on surveillance video.
He posted fliers and asked questions at the Subway next to her hotel, the Jack In The Box, and even a Papa Johns because Johnson’s babysitter saw empty pizza boxes from the restaurant on her hotel room floor.
Everywhere he and his cousins, Lisa and Joe Peters, stopped, people listened to their story and wanted to help.
“I have three kids and I couldn’t even imagine. Good luck to you, really good luck. I’ll be praying for you all night,” said one man at the Subway where Johnson was spotted.
But the stronger clues came to the McQueary family later in the day through phone calls and emails.
“We came on this trip looking for any evidence and we’re finding a lot of it,” said Logan McQueary.
After talking to an adoption expert who helps the FBI in the world of underground adoptions, the McQueary family learned some startling connections.
The Homegate Hotel where Johnson stayed is well known in adoption circles. Agencies put girls up there for meetings with families and to complete paperwork.
“It just seems like it is a place that mothers go when they’re trying to give up their children,” said Lisa Peters.
The adoption expert, who didn’t want to be identified, also had plenty to say about the San Antonio Six Flags.
“Often girls go to Six Flags to meet with the adoptive family. There’s a lot of people in and out there, and there’s also security there, and it’s a safe place for both the mother and the family to meet, often to bring the child, introduce the child to the family,” said Lisa Peters.
Johnson and Gabriel were spotted on surveillance footage outside the Six Flags on Dec. 26, the same day she took the last known photos of Gabriel in the Homegate hotel room. That was also just two days after she posted two comments on her MySpace page stating, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” and “Excited to start my new life.”
“I think on the 26th, she knew it was the last time she was going to see Gabriel, she took some pictures, she drove to Six Flags, somebody picked him up and she took off for Miami. And we just have to figure out who she met and where they are now,” said Lisa Peters.
The adoption expert also told the McQuearys that because of recent changes in Texas law, the state is now one of the easiest to remove parental rights from a biological father.
But despite the latest evidence, it is still possible that Johnson carried out her claim that she killed Gabriel and threw his body in the trash.

Peter - I get what you are saying. I suppose since the murder of Caylee I no longer have the compassionate heart I once had nor the ability to participate in the wonderful exchange of thoughts all of the CD folks have. I do admire all of you who hang in there daily to support justice for Caylee and all the babies who have died for no reason. I pray for all of you. I simply feel empty and completely drained. I still remain optimistic that this baby will be found. This case has made me feeling depressed and my heart goes out Gabriel. Obviously, I don’t know who he is or his family - but as a mother, he may very well be one of my children. The dad has a great investigator and he has millions of people praying for him. Keep the faith. It is very easy to become jaded when you read what monsters some people are when they hurt their children.

Mark Klaas got it right from the beginning when the Smiths kept injecting themselves into the media spotlight. He was highly suspect of these people from the start. Why were they constantly in the media spotlight? However their involvement, they know something, or they are hiding something. What is their purpose anyway? If they have knowledge of where Baby Gabriel, then stop messing around and tell the truth. I hate to think of this poor baby being murdered by his mother. But the more time that drags by, it’s not looking good. Another child abused and murdered at the hands of his mentally ill mother.

I am going to scream if I have to hear one more word about Michael Jackson and that idiot doctor. All three shows last night (Mike Galanos, JVM, and NG) spent their air time on him. I think the Haleigh Cummings case is THE ONE and is filled with intrigue, we already know that there is no NANNY in the Anthony case and we already know that Cindy and George never have to work again due to the big bloody paychecks they recieve.
I want to hear about Misty, Ron, Haleigh, baby Gabriel and that poor missing mom whose idiot stick husband took his babies camping in freezing weather at midnight to make S’mores. !!!!

Flicka Flacka actually Jesus wasn’t killed due to his virtue he was fulfilling scripture. The Son of God would offer himself up. The religious leaders of that time saw Jesus as competition since He was going to receive the Kingdom of God for His sacrafice.
I hope and pray that Gabriel is with someone who is taking care of him. I hope they come forward and cooperate with the officials.

The only children NG talks about now is her twins. I have visions (nightmares, really) that we will hear about them till they are old enough to leave home. You are right, the show used to be about the real victims, the children. I am sorry but I have no sympathy for MJ or Tiger. They created their own situations. Caylee, Haleigh, Gabriel and so many others did not. JMO

I agree. None of us here are jealous of anything the Anthony’s have or do. We want justice for Caylee and it’s too bad but it doesn’t appear that the Anthonys do. They are too busy with their mistruths, cover-ups and blaming others. A normal family would want to know who took the precious life of a child and do everything in their power to bring them to justice. You only have to see the grief shown by the Harrington family and know what a normal family would do. I was so touched by those two.
It is about time they started!!!! Justice for Caylee, Morgan, and Gabriel!!

I don’t know why a mother would get herself arrested, not corp with LE, sit behind bars, act like nothing is wrong, if she “only”gave her child to a good couple. It doesn’t make sense. Are we looking at a “copy cat” from the Casey saga?
The only different is this case is that Johnson didn’t claim it was a good friend/nanny who took Caylee. But it would have been a better lie to police if she said that she gave Caylee to a good couple at Univeral Studies and never asked for their names….

Back, the NG show is nore like the National Enquire as far as I am concerned I stopped watching her. And I can say I have never bought one of the trash magazines. Cover the children that is who needs exposure for help.

Jan, I totally agree with you there, there is no comparison. And her Nanny cam at work is something else. She is not in the same shoes as the people that are involved in these cases. I to am sick of hearing about her family everynight.

I know what you mean!!! I have this silent bet with myself how long it will take her to turn this into her twins and her fears, etc. Do you remember the time she said one of the twins had a fever when she came back from walking them and she ran a tub of water and jumped in clothes and all with them. I don’t know about her tub, but mine is slow enough to fill for me to remove my clothes. She is becoming a MAJOR drama queen. I so wished there was other shows on to cover these stories at the time I get home. I know Mike Galanos is good but he is on when I am at work.
At least when land fill is searched it will let us know something-if not found-or if he is-it will exempt this part of the puzzle. If done sooner we would already know.One way, or the other. Bless baby Gabriel ,praying he is found.

Girl, that’s all right. I too feel that way at times. Seems to many babies are being killed daily and no one cares.
Today at the store I saw the most precious little girl about three years old, standing up in the cart and singing a little song. She was singing with her whole heart. Twinkle Twinkle little star, and when she could not get the words, she would hum. I stopped and touched her little dress and told her that was so beautiful and she should try out for the opera. She just smiled so big at me. Made my day.

We all know that times are touch now. People that never asked for help before HAVE to now. My comment is NOT directed towards them…(but for the grace of God goes I)
This is for the folks who know how to work the system. Get their food stamp card, have better insurance coverage than I do, receive Section 8 for their home (much nicer than mine BTW). Please! As I stand behind you in the market line with my sales items and the cheapest meat I can get…DO NOT insult me for trying to live without gov asst by having your cart filled with filet steaks and the best roasts you can buy and THEN pull out your food stamp card to pay for it! Then adding insult to injury, you have the cash to pay for a bottle of Crown Royal and three 24 packs of beer! Maybe your beer was “on sale” but your CR starts at 40 bucks a bottle! As “I” am trying to take a hundred bucks to feed two of us for a month! This happened AGAIN to me Sat. I left the market in the worse mood ever! I followed them out to the parking lot.not as a stalker….it just worked out that way! They then loaded their ill gotten gains (WHICH I paid for) into a brand new truck! Just WHAT am I doing wrong? LOL
Oh, please don’t think I am whinning about my circumstances! I probably could get food stamps….but why? I chose to retire. And we don’t go without….it just frosts my balls that I am paying for their filets…..for their top grade roasts! And they get stamps BUT can still buy a bottle of Crown Royal? Something is wrong! Those really in need because they lost their jobs and have to use food stamps are embarrased! They buy like I do. Lorik, I have no problem with people that truly need help get it, do not get me wrong. I have a problem with people that know how to use the system and are buying the best, and alcohol and they have no intention of getting off there butt and working. They do this year after year . I have a problem when most of my retirement check is taken out for insurance to cover my medical and they are on full pay from the goverment. So I know what you are saying, it is rough now days for every one that is working or out of work. And if they truly need the help they should get it, just tired of the system being abused.

You don’t have to tell me about that feeling. Thank God, my hubby makes enough money for us, but with his RA, the day may come that we will be living on half income.
I know we will do whatever it takes to make it work out if that happens.
The only thing I worry about is Insurance. We can sell our house and get into something smaller, we can get rid of our bass boat, but the Insurance is some other story.
My husband has never asked for any help since he has been grown. When he was 12 his father past away. He had two younger brothers and one sister. Making four children in all. His mother could not work, she had to take care of the kids. They never had enough to eat. The boys worked for everything they got.
Today, my husband has paid in enough taxes that would have taken care of his insurance if he could have kept it. Don’t think for one moment he will get his medicine cheap.
I worry about the pain he will be in, if we have to chose between eating and his meds.
Mart, I also know the feeling last month they raised up the deductable on my meds to 160.00 for the month.plus all the premiums I had to pay. That is why I was sick had to wait a week to get them. My son was mad when he found out and said never wait again let me know. But I am to proud to ever ask for help.
If the landfill had been searched, right after baby Gabriel ,went missing, an they heard the tex,to the dad.They would have had a months less trash or,at least 3 weeks less trash to sift through. An thats got to be a lot. Why cant K dogs ,just walk over landfill ? an sniff for the smell of death, if thats what they are trained to alert to,only. Before anythings moved.I find much waisted time has went by. The baby would be competely decomposed by now,or would the cold,change the time for this ? Now maybe his little body isnt there. I doupt baby will be found if someone has him.They are hidden, if hes with another family. We know they would have seen the news,an reward,by now!! Why im amased about the motel being a place,for mother,an children to be put in,until adoptive family gets the child. An that 6 flags is also a place for this activity,of meeting,or dropping baby to someone else. We learn something every day.An a dad,should have as much rights as a mother.. Who is the Hispanic, man she has been seen with? Does Tammi dear know him? Those were horrid words she texed, the dad about his son being murdered,blue,an stuffed in a D bag!!! My Lord what kind of woman is this!!!! Inky, as this case developed, Tessa and I could see similarities to the Casey Anthony Case. I wonder if Elizabeth “followed” the Casey case. The Smith’s . . . . all of the videos they are in says it all! And . . . they are in some videos! LOL

I am ok now, yes it was blood preasure and my asthma meds. I had to wait a week but everything is ok now. They changed something on the deductable this year and I was not notified. so next year will expect it.

Jaquey & SUB - interesting info, after the new info on the underground baby trafficking/adoption stuff, I’m leaning more towards Gabriel is still alive. Gabriel’s mom wanted her boyfriend to wonder & worry for ”the rest of his life” so the underground adoption fits better imo
If I were Casey Anthony’s mother (thank God I am not), I would have gotten the “truth” out of her when LP bailed her out of jail-Either that or I would be in jail for God knows what. I think if any person has the ability to locate a missing child, then ANY MEANS to get the truth out of that person should be acceptable. Baby Gabriel’s mother (if that is what she is) should be tortured or whatever it takes until she tells where Baby Gabiel is. I would volunteer to “talk” to her
