Roy Kronk: A Human Skull Dropped Out With Hair, Duct Tape
Caylee Anthony Case, New Documents Evidence April: Prosecutors released audio files of three separate interviews with Roy Kronk, the meter reader who found Caylee Marie Anthony’s remains.
During those interviews on Dec. 11, Dec. 17 and Jan. 6 — Kronk told investigators about the first time he spotted something suspicious in the woods off Suburban Drive.
Kronk, who was with two other county employees, said he looked out into the swampy area on an August afternoon and saw something protruding out of the water.
“It just looked like the top of a human skull,” Kronk said.
It was on that day, Kronk said, that his supervisor and the trainee with them spotted the dead six-foot diamondback rattlesnake.
Kronk said his fellow employees brushed his statements off. His supervisor thought he was crazy. And the trainee didn’t see anything.
Kronk said he didn’t go in closer at that point because of the water and snakes.
But Kronk told his girlfriend about the sighting, who convinced him to call authorities.
Kronk returned to the woods days later to meet with Deputy Richard Cain. Kronk told investigators he told the deputy what he saw, including the snake.
Kronk said Cain took two steps in, got to the water’s edge of the swamp, and that was about it.
When Kronk told the deputy he thought he had seen a human skull, Kronk said, Cain started arguing with him. Kronk said he felt Cain was belittling him and told him, basically, that he was wasting the county’s time.
Kronk said he continued to think that what he saw that August afternoon was a skull.
Then, when Kronk returned to the woods Dec. 11 to urinate, he spotted the bag.
“I noticed a black plastic bag laying there and I saw, like, a dome in it,” Kronk told investigators the morning Caylee’s remains were found.
Kronk said the black garbage bag was closed.
“I took my stick and I hit it and it thudded,” he said. It sounded like plastic or a hollow bone”I pulled it a second time and then a human skull dropped out with hair around it and duct tape across the mouth, and I went, ‘oh God,’” Kronk said.
Several weeks later, when investigators questioned Kronk at the Sheriff’s Office, Kronk said he initially didn’t think the skull was real.
“I was praying in my mind, going, God, let this be something else,” Kronk said.
The meter reader also told investigators that the area did not look the same in December as it had in August when he first spotted the suspicious object. Kronk said there was a lot more foliage and the whole area was under water in the summer
The deputy sheriff who failed to find the remains of Caylee Marie Anthony in August told investigators different versions about what happened when he checked out a tip about something suspicious in the woods near the girl’s home, reports released today show.
In one interview about what happened Aug. 13, Deputy Richard Cain told investigators he found a couple of trash bags and when he picked up one of the bags, leaves and sticks fell out.
In a different interview a few hours later, Cain said he didn’t pick up a bag and he didn’t touch anything and he used his baton to poke around what he said he had found: sticks, twigs and “something the size of a leaf.”
He could have found a piece of something like a garbage bag or a piece of dark clothing.
An Orange County meter reader, Roy Kronk, called in the tip and waited nearby as Cain checked out the woods.
When he emerged from the woods, he told Kronk: “I found some stuff in there but there’s nothing in it,” according to the documents.
The investigators — Corp. Yuri Melich and Sgt. John Allen wanted to know if Cain had asked Kronk to show him what the meter reader had found earlier. Cain said he didn’t and he acknowledged under questioning that doing so would have been “reasonable.”
The interview with Cain was conducted in Dec. 18, a week after Caylee Marie’s remains were found.
Cain said he called or emailed someone, probably Crimeline, in August about how he just checked out the tip.
But when asked why he didn’t contact invesitgators after the remains were found Dec. 11, Cain said he thought detectives already had that information because he “thought all this stuff was kind of connected” by computers

Also “Zanny” is such an unusual name, it’s possible he would remember that?

True, he was the only one it seemed that really cared for Caylee, so he would remember things about her and her care. Casey really screwed up that relationship, he would have been a wonderful “father” for Caylee.
I would love to see Casey sent to Sherriff Joe Arpio in Arizona, where he makes the inmates live in tents, where pink, and feeds them all with bologna sandwiches. Casey would go nuts since there wouldn’t be any Cindy’s 5-alarm chili to gripe about

First time poster. all this talk about “zanny” got me thinking. “Zanny” is most definitely a nickname for the drug Xanax - pronunciation “Zanax>” Sounds like crasey was using the nickname in this fashion; and oh, how extremely childish. I am convinced that is what she is referring to, especially using the term early on and in so many different settings. I hope to talk to you all again soon.

This Part 1 interview seems very bizarre to me. Mr Kronk says the first time he saw something “suspicious” was when he saw something ” like a human skull” in the wooded area, he then said when he went back to the wooded area..days later,then he saw a “”closed BLACK plastic bag”", when he poked into it with his baton, a human skull dropped out of the bag. My question is…with the first encounter…. How did he see a “human skull” through a “BLACK plastic bag that was completely closed up”????? Seems a little strange to me!

I am so thankful that God kept laying it on Kronks heart to keep searching that area. she could still be laying there.Even if he started out doing it to get reward—shame he got such a small reward,an reconition.For doing a great job–Anthonys should have been greatful–but as of yet i have not heard any thanks comming from them. — If they had not known Casey to be guilty,they would have tripped over their own feet.Trying to thank this man. Dr. Jawitz did a correlation study to find an unknown from knowns. He used measured data from 2008 and 2009 on the Econlockhatchee river and the water depth in some wells and the area A site at each measured change to the river’s depth. This showed him the correlation between river depth and the measured depth of water inundation at site A during 2009. The correlation formula that he developed from this study using measured 2009 data could then be applied to the problem of figuring out the unmeasured depth of water inundation at site A using the measured figures of the river from June through December of 2008. By applying this formula to the river numbers he was able to tell exactly how much water, if any, would have been inundating site A on any given day of the period. This is standard and reliable science which is reproducible by other scientists for verification purposes.
There is no doubt that the science works since it is used in hydrology studies all over the world all of the time. The reason that it works is because there is a correlation between the depth of the water in the river, the ability for the ground to absorb additional water or displace it through run off, and the depth of inundation at any given location close to the river.
There was only water at the dump site during the period, inclusive, August 18 through the 28th. According to the data provided by Dr. J. the highest that the water got to was 0.9 feet (for one day) and an average of 0.5 feet during a four day period within this period. The site was totally dry outside of the period covered by 18 August through 28 August of 2008. During the remaining 6 days of the period when the dump site had water covering it, the average standing water would have been slightly more than an inch or so from the data.
That does not mean that the site was not momentarily wet during rains, but the ground was able to shunt the water away and absorb it so that it would not have remained inundated with water except during this small time frame.
Roy Kronk called 911 for the first time on August 11, 2008. It is impossible for him to have seen the bag sitting in water at that time, as there was no water at site A (the dump site) on August 11. Nor could he have seen a skull in the water at that time for the same reason. Also, he could not have seen Caylee’s skull even if there had been water present since law enforcement later found that the skull was not visible without moving some black plastic.
In his statement, Kronk says that it was actually a couple of days earlier than the 11th when he first saw the bag in the water and the skull, because he did not start calling 911 until his girlfriend made him. that means that we are really talking about the 9th or at most the 10th of August for when he was out there and saw something on Suburban Drive.
Roy could not have seen the dump site as he described it at that time since Dr. J. has proven that the dump site would have been free of water inundation until at least the 18th. At least 7 days later than when Roy told law enforcement that he had seen the bag and skull in water. Also, on the 18th there would have been only an inch or so of water at the site. According to Dr. J. the site is about 18 inches higher than the surrounding land near by. This means that Roy could not have seen a mirage effect where the bag just looked like it was in water.
I think it is entirely possible that Roy Kronk and his girlfriend are accomplices after the fact in this case and that they tried to have the body discovered in an area where they believed searches had already occurred which would cast doubt on Casy Anthony’s guilt.
Why? The girlfriend works at the County Jail and could easily have had communication with Casey Anthony and worked out some sort of deal for remuneration for doing this.
